For half an hour on Friday, Australia was running more solar power than coal...

Well, maybe. Maybe not. But there's a better story!

We're not in renewable infancy - let's stop treating it as such, see the two pictures below. On the top graph (multi coloured), you can see that the wildly circulated news article about reaching a point on Friday where there was more solar than coal is not true (please someone correct me if I'm misreading the NEM reporting; I see 37.1% vs 39% in this case).

But this is not really the story, in the bottom graph (two colours) you can see that we regularly hit ~60% supply throughout the past 7 days... This is using wind, hydro, and solar.

Let's celebrate the big picture, and not get caught up in the small wins - there are heaps of big wins happening weekly.

By the way, solar did actually beat coal on Saturday, and Sunday.
